STEVE MERCIER
DIVER

As the logical next step to my lifelong love of swimming, the ocean, and marine life, I took up scuba diving. I became fascinated with the new possibilities of underwater exploration available to me, and soon discovered that the more you learn about diving, the safer you and your dive buddies can be. Thus, I continued on past the basic class level and earned the certification of NAUI Master Scuba Diver, which is the highest non-professional certification granted by NAUI. I also hold NAUI Rescue Scuba Diver and SSI Enriched Air Nitrox certifications. Although most divers (myself included) enjoy exploring calm, crystal-clear waters at tropical temperatures, I am grateful to have had the chance to learn to dive in Jeju Island, South Korea, an area with many dive sites and rocky islets where you can experience strong currents and subtropical temperatures. My dive logbook also includes Guam, Thailand, Hawaii, and North Carolina, as well as various coastal and freshwater sites in Florida. My diving interests include marine life observation, search and recovery, and night diving.
